Kiwi Agua Fresca

Fresh kiwi, agave and a bit of water. That’s all there is to this exceptionally refreshing kiwi agua fresca. Kiwi is a fruit rarely seen anywhere but a fruit bowl, but you’re guaranteed to look at them entirely differently after trying this!

Kiwi Agua Fresca
  • 2 kiwis
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1 tsp. agave sweetener
  1. Slice kiwis.
  2. Combine all ingredients in Magic Bullet and blend until smooth.

Save this for a warm, sunny day and enjoy!

While the original daiquiri is a shaken cocktail consisting of lime, rum, and sugar, most associate the drink with the super-sweet frozen strawberry mixture served from big machines. We’ve decided to riff on that version, but instead of using a mix loaded with corn syrup and artificial flavors, we’re using the good stuff: lime juice, frozen strawberries, a little natural sweetener, and, of course, rum!

One sip of this fresh, breezy beach favorite and you’ll never go back to the big batch variety. If you still want to pour it into a styrofoam cup, though, we won’t judge you.

Skinny Strawberry Daiquiri
  • 2 oz white rum
  • 1 1/2 cups frozen strawberries
  • 1/2 cup fresh lime juice
  • 2 Tbsp honey or agave nectar
  1. Add all ingredients to the Magic Bullet Party Mug, screw on the Cross Blade and blend until smooth and slushy.
  2. To serve, screw on the Comfort Lip Ring or pour into a serving glass.

Craving a virgin cocktail? Leave out the rum and enjoy!

This recipe is natural, decadent and delicious. A strawberry daiquiri on its own is a force to be reckoned with: a fresh strawberry smoothie with alcohol? Yes please! Combine that with slightly whipped coconut cream, though, and you’re in a different league of tasty.

With the Magic Bullet’s help, we’re not only blending the daiquiri, we’re creating powdered sugar and whipping our own coconut cream.

Coconut Cream Strawberry Daiquiri
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1 1/2 cups ice cubes
  • 2 Tbsp rum
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp Peach Vodka or Peach Schnapps
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. Sugar + 1 1/2 Tbsp water (to make about 1 1/2 Tbsp. of our own simple syrup)

Ingredients for Whipped Coconut Cream

  • 1 can full-fat coconut milk, refrigerated
  • 1/4 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 Tbsp sugar, powdered* or 2 Tbsp sugar, blended to powder

* Most recipes call for powdered sugar. Instead of buying an entire package, we’re going to use the Magic Bullet to powder plain sugar for us.

  1. First step is to make your own simple syrup. If you already have some, you can skip down to step 2. In order to make simple syrup, just combine 1 1/2 Tbsp sugar with 1 1/2 Tbsp water, heat and stir until the sugar is dissolved into the water.
  2. Now, let’s make our own whipped cream. Blend 2 Tbsp sugar in the Magic Bullet to powder.
  3. Scoop thick layer of coconut cream from the top of the can into the Magic Bullet. Discard the coconut water or save for other uses, and blend for 30 seconds. Then add vanilla and 1 Tbsp powdered sugar and blend for about 2 minutes (we don’t want it too creamy, so that the cream can mix well with our daiquiri).
  4. Chop strawberries into small chunks.
  5. Combine strawberries, ice, simple syrup, rum and vodka (or schnapps if you have it) in Magic Bullet and blend.
  6. Pour the strawberry mixture into your serving cup and top with the whipped coconut cream.

Garnish with cinnamon if you’d like and enjoy the decadence of this wonderful drink – you deserve it!

Blueberry Mint Julep

To be completely honest, I’ve never been big on having a drink after work. I don’t know how I missed that boat, because it’s a great boat to be on sometimes.

So this week I tried to make a Blueberry Mint Julep a la How Sweet It Is.

FULL DISCLOSURE: Although mine was delicious, my drink ended up looking more black than blue. If you want to look at how pretty it can be, you should refer to the link above.

Mine? Not so pretty, but it did the trick!

Here’s what you need:

  • 2 1/2 ounces bourbon
  • 1 ounce mint simple syrup
  • 1 ounce mint blueberry puree
  • crushed ice
  • fresh mint leaves

You can prep the next two steps if you’re having people over. Since this makes about one serving, just multiply by how many drinks you anticipate having.

mint simple syrup

  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 bunch of mint leaves

Combine sugar, mint and water together in a small saucepan and heat over high heat until boiling, stirring constantly. Reduce heat to low and cook for another minute or so, then set aside to cool completely. Remove mint before using. You can do this ahead of time and store it in the fridge!

blueberry mint puree

  • 2/3 cup fresh blueberries
  • 2 tablespoons mint simple syrup

In your Magic Bullet, combine blueberries and mint simple syrup until pureed.

Combine bourbon, mint simple syrup and mint blueberry puree together and shake or stir well. Pour over crushed iced and serve with extra mint leaves.

This is what How Sweet Eats‘ turned out. Obviously, her recipe rocks.

I don’t know how you all feel about gin. I think it’s one of those things you have strong feelings about. You know, you either love it or you hate it. Me, well, I’m not a very big fan. But, we ended up with a bottle in our freezer and I obviously couldn’t let it go to waste. So, enter frozen watermelon. AKA: the best thing to put in your next frozen drink.

Watermelon is super sweet, but it’s basically all water, so you can use it in place of both sugar and ice, the dreaded water-downer of all good drinks everywhere. It’s excellent. Plus, it’s pink, which is just plain adorable.

Frozen Watermelon-tini

  • 1 cup frozen watermelon chunks
  • 1 1/2 oz gin
  • juice of half a lime
  • a few basil leaves

Blend everything together until smooth. Pour into a fancy little glass, garnish with a sprig of basil, and drink it. With your pinky out, of course.
